We are the hands and feet of the loving Jesus who's reaching out

God calls us to serve others. It's a simple command, but it's something we take extremely seriously. So we focus a large portion of our time and efforts on helping to serve those in need in our community. Whether it's providing food, offering a place to sleep, helping to pay bills or even just simply being a listening ear, we are devoted to helping our friends and neighbors.

Opportunities to Serve

Serving the Body of Christ

At Avoca Christian, we believe it is both a privilege and an act of worship to serve in the church. Each week, it takes dozens of volunteers giving selflessly of their time and their energy to make what we do possible. From greeting visitors at the door when they arrive to teaching in KidzTown, from setting up for events to helping run sound during worship service, each volunteer opportunity is a chance for you to use the gifts God has given you to bless others.

We have a variety of opportunities and places for you to get involved and serve at Avoca Christian. So join us as we seek to be Christ's feet to the world.

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts.
Use them well to serve one another.
— 1 Peter 4:10, ESV

Children's Ministry

Our goal is to share the love of Jesus with children of every age, from infancy through 6th grade. And we can't do that without a community of consistent and dedicated leaders and volunteers. If you want to be part of a thriving community that loves Jesus and wants to share that love with children and families, then we want to hear from you.

Connections Team

First impressions are often lasting. We need friendly faces and helpful hands on the front line to represent Avoca Christian and the body of Christ to the people who visit us on a weekly basis. This is a great chance to meet new people and help them get to know us and encourage them to join our family. A smiling face can make all the difference.

Worship and Media

From sound, video, graphics, music, setup and more, it takes an army of volunteers for our weekend services to run smoothly as we glorify God by worshiping together as a family. Whether you thrive behind the scenes or by sharing your musical gifts with the church, we have a place for you.

Find a spot just for you

These are only a few of the volunteer opportunities available at Avoca Christian, so there is sure to be a spot for you to use your talents. If you're interested in getting plugged in, we'd love to talk to you about how you can best use your talents and abilities to help serve Christ and His people.

We Desire to See Church Members Living a Holistic and Healthy Life

The purpose of the Parish Nurse Program is to help people in religious congregations and surrounding communities reach their optimal level of whole personal health.

This ministry promotes wholistic wellness by:

  • Visitation of church members in their homes, hospital and nursing homes.
  • Assists congregation members in identifying their health needs through surveys and interviews.
  • Counsels members on health related issues.
  • Serves as a resource person, referring to community resources and assist in obtaining needed services.
  • Coordinating health education classes on a variety of subjects.
  • Coordinating health screenings.
  • Developing support groups within the church.

Things to start thinking about:

ORGAN DONATION

More than 85,000 Americans are waiting for life-saving organ transplants and hundreds of thousands more could benefit from tissue transplants.  Unfortunately, the need for donors is much greater than the actual number of donors.  Your commitment to organ and tissue donation can save lives.  For more information, or to become and organ donor, visit www.dcidonor.org.

CANCER AWARENESS

You can help in the fight against cancer!  Volunteer for events, talk to your legislators, and donate to the American Cancer Society.  Visit their website at www.cancer.org.

Every Year we Host NASCAR Fans from Around the Country

Twice each year, we are blessed with the opportunity to reach out to NASCAR fans from all over the country.

Upcoming Race Weekends

APril 2017

August 2017

Parking

Our church facilities sit on more than 20 acres of land, and we open the property for parking on Race Days. We don't charge any fees for parking with us. Instead, we simply ask that you leave a donation, and all proceeds go to our youth ministry. You can catch a ride to the speedway easily on our free shuttle, which runs all day long on both Friday and Saturday. Avoid the traffic, park at Avoca!

Camping

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer camping on our property for the April 2017 races. We realize this may affect travel and planning for our regular campers, so we have made alternative arrangements with another campground to provide you with alternative camping arrangements. To make your reservations, please contact Burt Clark at Pole Position Campground at 423-968-5971. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
